Heyward Hospitality Solutions is celebrating four years of providing independent consulting services. Over this time, our passion for high performance and developing talented people has seen a range of partnerships and projects develop. This has developed a strong reputation in leadership development, degree and postgraduate education as well as business process improvement.
Now we are entering a new phase and developing a range of tools to take the development of high performing teams to the next level.
As part of this development, we are launching our new website to provide information on the services provided. These revolve around three key areas: 1) Individual performance, using training, coaching and Harrison Assessments, 2) Team performance, using workshops and consulting and 3) Optimising processes, using consulting and Softools. The website will feature Linkedin updates as well as industry-related articles on all of these areas.
To get to know us better, we would like to share this interview with Michael Heyward, our Managing Director, who celebrates 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry. In this interview, he discusses his background and what he aspires to achieve in the coming years.
How did you get started in the industry and how has your career developed since?
It was during my teens that I began my first role as a hotel Page Boy, delivering messages and running errands for the Chef Concierge. Having since enjoyed over 30 years in the industry, in a host of positions, I have been drawn to advising businesses within the hospitality industry on how to develop high performance teams. This inspired me to launch Heyward Hospitality Solutions and what an exciting journey it has been so far.
What inspires you about the future of hospitality?
As a Consultant Lecturer at the Glion Institute of Higher Education in subjects including leadership, operational management, food & beverage, revenue management and entrepreneurship, I enjoy working amongst a diverse group of students. It is particularly inspiring to see the aspirations they have for their education, within an organisation committed to excellence hospitality higher education.
What’s on the horizon for Heyward Hospitality Solutions?
In the short term, working with Peter Ryrvik from Talent Solutions in Sweden using Harrison Assessments for individual and group professional development. In the medium term, building on team performance development skills with Malou Laureys and Jim Tamm using Radical Collaboration. In the longer term, growing the business internationally.
